About Us
Instructing Children in the Charleston Area
Lowcountry Etiquette, LLC was founded in December 2022 by Beverly Sumner and her two daughters, Grayson LeVeen and Price Sigal. Lowcountry Etiquette, LLC teaches manners that will benefit children for a lifetime through basic manners and etiquette classes.

The history of Lowcountry Etiquette goes back to 1967 when Beverly's mother, Sudie Wilson, started an etiquette program for children in Rock Hill, South Carolina, called the Junior Assembly of Rock Hill. Being from Richmond, Virginia, Sudie grew up belonging to a dance club which offered ballroom dance instruction, with an emphasis on social graces. Using that background and
knowledge, and after researching other programs that were currently operating in Richmond, Sudie started a cotillion that focused on ballroom dancing, manners and etiquette for middle school aged children. She also helped organize similar Junior Assemblies in Shelby, North Carolina, and Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Upon Sudie's retirement in 1989, she encouraged her daughter, Beverly, to "carry on the family tradition." Beverly and her business partner organized the Junior
Assembly of Gastonia in 1989 and they continue to teach children ballroom dancing, social graces, dinner etiquette, and general manners to this day. When Beverly moved to Charleston, South Carolina in October 2022, she and her daughters decided to once again, "carry on the family tradition" in honor of Sudie, and thus, Lowcountry Etiquette was born.
Beverly, Grayson, and Price have enjoyed teaching "French Fries and Thank You" and are excited to expand to other age groups later this year!
Our Instructors

Beverly Sumner is the “etiquette expert” behind Lowcountry Etiquette. Beverly has been teaching manners and etiquette for 33 years in North Carolina. After recently moving to Charleston to be closer to her 4 children and 13 grandchildren, she is excited to bring her experience in etiquette to the Lowcountry. Beverly has been a high school teacher on and off for over 15 years as well.

Grayson LeVeen is Beverly’s oldest daughter, and she spent much of her childhood immersed in manners and etiquette. Grayson has assisted Beverly in teaching manners and ballroom dancing classes for middle school age children, and has co-led manners and etiquette classes for young children with Beverly as well. Grayson is a certified instructor with Bar Method Charleston on Daniel Island and mother to four wonderful children.

Price Sigal is Beverly’s younger daughter and, like Grayson, grew up assisting her mom in the business of manners, etiquette and ballroom dancing. Price worked for Beverly’s etiquette business in high school on the weekends as an assistant dance instructor, along with other tasks. Price is also a practicing attorney and mom to three rambunctious children.
